Marché de Loches - Val de Loire

On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, Loches swings into market gear and becomes a veritable showcase of local flavours and savoir-faire. With 110 different stalls, this is considered one of the Touraine's top markets.

Markets here are a mainstay of local life. There are those who come along just to wander around, soak up the atmosphere and have a drink with friends. And there are those who come to fill up their stock, with a basketful of goods "made in Touraine"! Goat's cheese, 'rillons and rillettes', fresh fruit and vegetables, organic bread, organic yoghurts, and the list goes on... In short, you'll find everything you need to serve up a tasty dinner made from local produce. You may even pick up a few tips on how to cook your chicken as local people will be delighted to share their knowledge and recipes with you.

Whether in Loches, Descartes, Ligueil  or further south in Grand-Pressigny, the markets are always vibrant and colourful, a real social scene where producers gather to offer an amazing variety of goods. The fertility of the land and the moderate climate come together to fill the market stalls with all kinds of delicious produce.
