Bistro cuisine with an exotic touch at the P'tit Restau in Loches

Shall I tell you about Le P'tit Restau? It's a tale about love at first sight. Marie and Matthieu Bally were looking for a restaurant of their own. Their search brought them to Loches, and, before even seeing the restaurant, they fell in love with the town. As soon as they passed through the Porte Picois, that was it: love at first sight, no turning back.

Here it was the place they'd always dreamt of: here they would stay. They seem to have found their "happy ever after": the restaurant's a hit, it's been busy ever since they opened it in March. Marie's in the kitchen and Matthieu up front. Sharing a passion for good food, they're the perfect match!

At the P'tit Restau, you will always be greeted with a big smile - that's their promise, it's even written on the shop front. This place is serious about food, you can be sure of that: cooking, peeling, simmering... There's no messing about, you'll see!

Exotic touch

Exotic touch

The restaurant serves local dishes, and much more besides. What Marie likes to do is to bring an exotic touch to her food, experimenting and playing around with flavours, especially Asian ones. She makes use of traditional recipes but is not confined to them; she invents sauces to stir in surprising new flavours. Despite her traditional training, Marie's greatest wish has always been to create her own recipes, and it's safe to say she's succeeded.

The Ptit Restau takes your tastebuds on a journey! The sautéd pork fillet is seasoned with ginger and lemongrass season and served with rice noodles, while the panna cotta comes with mango, coconut milk and fresh pineapple. Absolutely delicious! And if you go back the following week, you'll find the menu's changed, offering entirely new taste sensations. "It's important to keep things new, and to surprise people," says Marie. The kitchen opens out onto the dining hall, which allows interaction, and if you're curious, you'll love watching the food being prepared.

At the P'tit Restau, you don't get tomatoes or strawberries in winter, all the produce are seasonal and the prices stay low so that everybody can enjoy a meal. And even if you get there a little late, you'll always find a warm greeting and a smile awaiting you. If the restaurant's full, you'll be handed the menu and advised to call, next time, to make sure you get a table. What's the best thing about it? Everything - go and see for yourself!
