An unsolved mystery

The tomb of Ludovic Sforza has mysteriously disappeared… It should be at the Collegiate Church of St Ours where he was buried after being imprisoned in the dungeons of the castle-keep in Loches and where traces of his imprisonment can still be found.

But where is the Duke of Milan?

It is in Loches that the Duke of Milan Ludovic Sforza, rival of Louis XII and important patron of Leonardo da Vinci, lived his last days. He died in 1508, just a few days after being freed from the dungeon of the castle-keep in Loches where he had been imprisoned for four years.

His dungeon is visited often and still contains traces of his imprisonment with numerous paintings and hand-written inscriptions. While it was said that Sforza was buried in the Collegiate Church of St Ours in Loches, his tomb seems to have disappeared. So where was Ludovic Sforza actually buried? Archaeological findings could perhaps one day solve this mystery.
